LONDON
ARTISTS' STUDIO TOUR 2009
CALL FOR ENTRIES
The London Artists’ Studio Tour invites artists to apply for the 2009 tour – May 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Applicants must be professional working artists with exhibition experience living in the city of London.
We strive for a well-rounded tour and seek quality work in all media. In addition to painting and work on paper, we welcome textile, pottery, photography, sculpture, jewellery, mixed media, stained glass, metal works, etc. We are only interested in original work; works from kits and molds and reproductions are not acceptable.
Applicants must have accessible studio space able to accommodate up to 300 people going through in one weekend.
Deadline for submissions is October 31, 2008. Send 10 slides (marked with a red dot in the lower right-hand corner) or a CDR with examples of recent work (completed in the last two years), a map of your location in London, plus a CV and a stamped, self addressed envelope suitable for the return of your slides to London Artists’ Studio Tour, 824 Clearview Ave., London, Ont N6H 2N2 or 2 Leslie St., London, Ont N6H 1H9.
NOTE: do not send more than 10 images - if you do, the jury will only look at the first 10!)
New applicants should be prepared for a studio visit as part of the jurying process. Applicants will be informed of the jury’s decision by mid-December 2008.
The Studio Tour is a juried event with a fee to participate. The only work that may be shown at any studio during the tour is that of artists accepted by the jury. The participation fee is payable upon acceptance by the jury. The fee for 2008 was $150 per artist. The fee for 2009 will be comparable. All participants/ studios must have personal liability insurance during the tour – house insurance alone does not provide adequate coverage.
Artists must be present in their studio for the duration of the tour.
Participating artists benefit through exposure and sales. Many tour goers are as interested in the process of how the art is created as they are in the finished pieces. The Studio Tour is promoted through brochures and advertising. Participants assist with the distribution of printed material. We encourage self-promotion as it also benefits the group. Most people who visit one studio also visit others. Some tour goers tend to focus on particular neighbourhoods, while others seek out artists working in particular media.
